Privacy policy
The short version: Tovin has no mandatory account and no ads. Your wiped map, your routes and your GPS history stay on your iPhone and — if you enable iCloud sync — in your own iCloud; we never collect them. If you (optionally) join the leaderboard, only your chosen name, your country and your totals appear in the public rankings — never your routes. And if you want to share your live location with friends in a shared world (like Find My), you can — but only if you turn it on yourself.
1. Who are we?
Tovin is a product of RULIDO, a Dutch sole proprietorship. Contact: info@rulido.nl.
2. The app: what data, and where does it live?
- Location. The app uses your location to reveal the map and to recognise areas (countries, regions, municipalities). This data is stored locally on your device only, as anonymous grid cells (not a timeline of exact GPS points).
- iCloud sync (optional). If you enable it, Apple syncs your progress between your own devices through your personal iCloud. This runs entirely through Apple; we have no access to it. See Apple’s privacy policy.
- Leaderboard (optional). If you want to join the rankings, you pick a name and a country. Only that name, that country, your totals (area wiped, municipalities, countries) and your avatar colour choice (a number 0–11) appear in the public rankings — never your locations or routes. This data goes to the Tovin server (api.tovin.nl, hosted in the EU). There is also an optional “community pin”: only if you enable “Show me on the community map” do we send a single coarse position (~1 km accuracy). Quitting is always one tap in the app: “Delete my registration” removes your name and score immediately.
- Shared worlds & live location (optional). If you create or join a shared world with friends, you can — just like Find My — share your live location with that group. This is off by default; you turn it on per world yourself, and you can switch it off anytime. When it’s on, your current position travels via our EU server (api.tovin.nl) to your world-mates — transient, not kept as long-term history.
- Purchases. A one-time €2.49 via the App Store (Apple), plus one optional in-app purchase: the Community World as a €1.49 per month subscription, cancellable at any time. Payment runs entirely through Apple; we receive no payment or account details. Of an active subscription we only store that your friend code has access, and until when.
- No tracking. The app contains no ads, no tracking SDKs and no third-party analytics.
Your wiped map, your routes and your GPS history never reach the server and we keep them nowhere. The only location that touches our EU server (api.tovin.nl) — solely with your explicit, self-enabled consent — is coarse or transient: the optional community pin (a coarse ~1 km position) and, in a shared world, your live location for your own group (like Find My). Your full location history is something we simply don’t have — so we can’t sell or leak it either.
3. This website
- No cookies, no analytics, no tracking.
- Our hosting provider (EU) keeps standard technical server logs (such as IP address and requested pages) for security and debugging. These are kept briefly and not used for anything else.
- Fonts are loaded via Google Fonts; Google sees your IP address in the process.
4. Legal basis & retention
The app processes location data locally only, based on your consent (the iOS location permission), which you can withdraw in Settings at any time. Deleting your data is always possible: delete the app (and, if applicable, the Tovin data from your iCloud via Settings → iCloud → Manage storage).
5. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct and delete your data. Since we hold no data about you (everything lives with you), you can exercise these rights directly on your device. Questions or complaints? Email info@rulido.nl. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in the Netherlands: the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
6. Changes
This policy will be finalised at the App Store launch. Material changes will be announced on this page.
